Sara Heaps, a 2006 graduate of Encinal High
School, had been chosen as one of only 16 second-year college students in
the nation to be named into the Goldman Sachs Foundation Global Leader
Program for 2008. Students must go through an extensive application process
and be nominated by their college in order to be considered by the Goldman
Sachs Foundation. The award honors academic achievement and demonstrated

Premiering Today at Alameda's Central Cinema is
"The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian"The PG rated fantasy movie, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian", premiers today at Alameda’s Central Cinema, 842 Central Avenue. Tickets are $7.00 for everyone all day long, except non-senior adults who must pay $9.00 after 6:00 p.m. For show times, phone the theater at 219-5058.
Show times are: Friday & Saturday 11:00 a.m., 1:40 p.m., 4:20 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 9:40 p.m.; Sunday 11:00 a.m., 1:40 p.m., 4:20 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.; Monday through Thursday 3:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.
Another New Parking Garage for Alameda?
Did anyone else catch the clause proposing a new parking garage at Buena Vista and Park Street, in the Park Street North of Lincoln Strategies document? Once again, the City of Alameda’s efforts are in conflict with themselves - the report talks about creating “an active pedestrian environment” and supporting “the Community’s Vision for pedestrian-oriented development” and creating “support for transit uses.” But then they go on to suggest a new parking structure for automobiles.
